AN INDIAN REPOUSSÉ SILVER CASKET of truncated rectangular form with hinged cover, the top worked profusely with a central applied and inset panel depicting a shield flanked by swords and a bow surrounded by radiating flags and floral sprays together with the motto 'TONK STATE DURBAR'S ENGLISH OFFICE', surrounded by scrolling vine, in an applied and inset border of meandering dense leafy vine between repoussé meandering palmette vine stripes, the sides with panels of similar motifs within borders, loop handles, applied lock plate, on claw and ball feet, late 19th/early 20th century (one foot and a few inset stones missing) associated Indian velvet covered fitted case, polished mahogany base and padded canvas travelling cloth
