Nine albumen prints, sizes approx. 6 x 7¾ in. to 8¼ x 11¼ in. or the reverse, one trimmed to oval, one trimmed at corners, one signed Miller in the negative, eight mounted on card, one with blindstamp John Eastham Manchester on mount, two titled in ink/pencil on mount and one titled in ink on paper labels, six matted; with one woodburytype from Men of Mark, 4½ x 3 5/8 in., trimmed to oval, printed title and photographer's credit on mount. Lot Essay

An interesting group portrait titled 'Bouquet of Mandarins' includes China's first official Ambassador to U.S.A., Chen Nan-pin. He led the first one hundred Chinese students in America, together with Yung-Wan, in 1868.

Other portraits include Li Hung-Chang, the Imperial Consul General of the Chinese Government in London (1898-1904), Officer Lu and his young concubines, and Chinese mandarins.
