A LOUIS XVI GILT-BRONZE MANTEL CLOCK in two-tone gilding, the circular glazed enamelled dial with Roman and Arabic numerals and calendar signed Hartingue/APARIS, the beaded bezel set within an arched rectangular pedestal with laurel swagged angle sprays, the whole surmounted by a figure of Cupid holding his bow above his head and being garlanded with flowers by two nymphs, with Hymen's torch and Cupid's quiver on the ground, the bowfronted panelled rectangular plinth with central relief plaque depicting a playful putto raising a satyr-headed therm and flanked by foliate sprays, on engine-turned tapering toupie feet and later inverted breakfront gilt-gesso base with foliate-trailed mille-raies panels and spreading moulded plinth
