A PAIR OF BELGIAN PERCUSSION TARGET PISTOLS with sighted rebrowned twist octagonal multigroove rifled barrels, case-hardened breeches, engraved case-hardened tangs, signed case-hardened locks engraved with stylised foliage and a cobweb design on each tail, figured walnut half-stocks carved with a shell in relief on each fore-end tip, chequered butts carved in relief with a band of laurel on the spine, carved ebony butt-caps each with silver butt-trap and silver hinged cover cast and chased with a female mask in relief, case-hardened iron mounts engraved en suite with the locks, spur trigger-guards, set triggers, silver barrel-bolt escutcheons, and most of their original finish: in an unlined fitted mahogany case with accessories (turnscrew replaced), by J. B. Rongé, Liège proof, circa 1850
