FLOYD GOTTFREDSON
Mickey Mouse Runs His Own Newspaper 10/1979
Original art, watercolor on board, framed and signed.
For most of his life, Gottfredson remained one of the great unknown Disney artists, but in 1968, collector Malcolm Willits publicly revealed Gottfredson as the artist behind Mickey Mouse. In 1978 Mr. Willits commissioned Gottfredson to create a series of 24 paintings of his most memorable tales. This painting, completed in October 1979, finds Mickey buying a run-down newspaper and he is immediately in a fight for his life against his old nemesis Peg Leg Pete. Pete and his hoodlums will stop at nothing to silence the valiant efforts of editor Mickey and his helper Donald Duck.
