Converted from flintlock, with rebrowned twist barrels signed in gold on the rib and inlaid with gold scrolls (minor losses) enclosing the inscription 'Thornville/Royal' in Gothic characters, together with the date 1801, silver fore-sight, patent breeches each with two gold lines and drum conversion, finely engraved grooved tang, signed engraved bevelled locks each with stepped tail, finely figured walnut half-stock (fore-stock cracked, minor chips and bruising), chequered grip, cheek-piece, engraved iron mounts including signed trigger-guard, trigger-plate with pineapple finial, shield-shaped silver escutcheon engraved with a crest, a scallop-shell, and original brass-mounted ramrod (some wear and light pitting), Tower private proof marks
