A Rare 8-Bore Dog-Lock Musket
Circa 1650
With two-stage barrel, standing back-sight, plain tang (repaired), flat bevelled lock retained by three later side-nails and with separate pan (replaced), flat cock, large dog catch, and bridle to the steel-spring, the later trigger moving on a pin above the tail of the lock, walnut full stock, later iron trigger-guard, and later iron-tipped ramrod, the butt (wormed and filled) incised on the left side with the initials 'RP' (iron parts pitted)
