A Rare 17-Bore Silver-Mounted Flintlock Duck Gun

With rebrowned two-stage twist barrel with turned girdle and silver spider fore-sight, the octagonal breech with gold-lined maker's stamp and gold-lined touch-hole, shaped tang with characteristic engraving, flat lock retained by two side-nails and with moulded border, roller, stepped tail, gold-lined pan, and second form of signature, figured walnut half-stock (reduced from full, minor bruising) carved in relief with a shell behind the barrel tang, finely engraved shaped silver mounts including solid side-plate, the trigger-guard with second pattern acorn finial, large cast and chased escutcheon involving scallop-shells, and original horn-tipped wooden ramrod with worm, London proof marks, silver maker's mark of John King
