A 22-Bore Brescian Snaphaunce Belt Pistol
Mid-17th Century
With octagonal sighted barrel with incised signature 'Lazari Cominaz' on the top flat, the rear of the breech with a band of engraved foliage and a stepped slotted ramp (old brased joint towards the muzzle), flat lock engraved with flowers and foliage involving a female term, all on a hatched ground, and chiselled with a monster-head on the tail, pierced cock engraved with grotesques and retained by a bolt, the head chiselled as a putto-mask, figured walnut full stock (fore-end an old working replacement with subsequent repairs), iron trigger-guard and pommel each chiselled in relief with foliage on a punched ground, iron belt hook, fore-end cap and ramrod-pipes, and wooden ramrod with worm
