A LOUIS XV-STYLE GOLD AND ENAMEL SEALING-WAX CASE
possibly Swiss, later struck with two French post-1864 import marks for 18 carat gold
Slightly tapering étui-à-cire of oval section, engraved with a vertical fishbone pattern and chased with c-scrolls, both sides of cover and base decorated with oval cartouches of scalloped outlines finely enamelled en plein with flower vases on ledges, framed by reeded gold c-scrolls, the raised borders engraved with ribbon-twisted reeding, the convex cap with a scalloped cartouche enamelled with a flowerspray framed by four reeded c-scrolls, blank matrix
