Lot Essay

Prince Charles George Augustus was the eldest son of Prince Charles William Ferdinand of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel and his wife Princess Augusta of Hanover (who was the first child of Frederick Louis Prince of Wales). His younger sister was Queen Caroline, wife of George IV. Prince Charles George Augustus married in 1790 Frederica Louisa Wilhelmina of Orange-Nassau, daughter of the Stadhouder Willem V.
