Christ in the storm on the Sea of Galilee

The present composition is based on a prototype of 1595 by Jan Brueghel the Elder, in the Pinacoteca Ambrosiana, Milan (K. Ertz, Jan Brueghel der Altëre (1585-1625), Cologne, 1979, p. 559, no. 12). Ertz (op. cit., p. 562, no. 31) records another autograph version from the following year formerly in the collection of Silvano Lodi, Campione.
