Type: 4*:185G (headlines), 6:108G (kerned, headings, Psalm quotations), 9:76G (marginalia), 14:285G (titles), 15*:92b Greek (III:10/5), printed guide-letters. 6- and 8-line initials in blue with red Maiblumen decoration, 3-line initials and paragraph marks alternating in red and blue. (Small wormholes in vol. III and first and final leaves of vol. I affecting some letters, some light dampstaining, marginal tear slightly into text at 13/1 and 15/6 repaired.) Contemporary Augsburg binding of quarter pigskin, blindstamped over wooden boards, two brass fore-edge catches (vol. I missing one clasp, crack in front board), Kyriss shops 79 (roll 1) and 83 (roll 1). Provenance: Hall, Tyrol, Waldaufsche Stiftung, with engraved bookplate (Fundationis Baldauficae), inscription dated 1596, and library stamp (Ritter-Waldauf-Bibliothek) in both volumes.

Second edition. These volumes formerly were part of the Waldaufsche Stiftung of Hall, Tyrol, one of the oldest libraries in the country. The founder, Florian Waldauf, secretary and close associate of Emperor Maximilian I, resolved to establish the foundation if he survived a near-fatal incidence while accompanying the Emperor at Zuidersee. He did, and carried out his resolution to honour God in 1502, providing a chapel, a priest and a collection of relics. In addition to his philanthropic acts, Waldauf published a Missale Brixiense (Augsburg: Ratdolt, 1493), and the Revelationes of St. Bridget in Latin and a German translation (Nuremberg: Koberger, 1500; 1502; see lot ).
