FIRST EDITION of this important work of Christian mysticism. Hugo was influenced by Dionysius Areopagita in his description of the three paths of the soul to union with God: the purgativa, illuminativa, and unitiva. De triplici via in turn exerted a strong influence on Gerson in composing his Mystica theologica, Henricus de Herp, and others. This is one of only a handful of books printed by this short-lived, anonymous press, the second at Speier. NO COPIES RECORDED IN AMERICA OR THE U.K. H 3499; GW 4705; IDL 958; IBP 1172; BSB B-665
