Letterpress title (dated 1800), list of plates, foreword, engraved title with hand-coloured illustration of a nightingale, 25 hand-coloured engraved plates of birds, with their nests and eggs. (Lacking 1799 letterpress title, pp. 71-2 and 3(?) preliminary leaves, including the author's reply to a review published in 1799, some spotting and occasional light dampstaining to text, one or two plates with slight soiling.) Contemporary half roan over marbled boards (lightly scuffed and rubbed, front free endpaper repaired at upper corner).
