Lot Essay

The cupboard's trellised marquetry of flowered mosaic and its fluted pilasters capped by Bacchic-ram heads emerging from acanthus-foliage, relates to furniture manufactured in the 1760s by Jacques Dautriche (maître 1765), who was patronised by the Comte d'Artois (see P. Kjeillberg, Le Mobilier Français du XVIIIe, Paris, 1989 p. 222-3)
