[ELIZABETH I, Queen of England]. Manuscript document bearing an impression in wax of her Great Seal, countersigned by John Gibbon and others at bottom, n.p., 29 November 1573. 1 page, an oblong, 242 x 420 mm. (9 5/8 x 16 ½ in.), ON FINE VELLUM, Latin text written in an elegant upright court hand, the words "Elizabeth" and "Quibus" in first line decorated with penwork ascenders and elaborate scrollwork, GREAT SEAL IN CREAM-COLORED WAX pendant at bottom (an equestrian portrait of the Queen, on obverse a portrait of the Queen enthroned), the wax rubbed and with small losses at edge, enclosed in folding cloth slipcase. Confirming at the request of Nicholas Henson a grant of lands made in 1553 to John, Earl of Bedford, and Edmund Downynge, of lands formerly in the possession of the priory of St. John of Jerusalem and the priory of Worksop.
