THE FOUNDER OF THE SOCIETY OF FRIENDS An interesting brief note regarding the marriage of cousins: "The romones [sic] lawes did permit by...law that brothers sisters children should marry but by experience of...such mareages [sic] ther can groe noe children & the holy law forbideth that we should mary our kindred wher for it is necessary that it be the 3 or 4 generation that it should be permitted to mary..."

Fox (1624-1691) founded the Society of Friends in 1647, originally calling his fraternity of followers "the Friends of Truth," preaching the superiority of God-given inspiration over scriptural creeds. His original manuscript material is extremely rare on the market.
