Lot Essay

The Days of Creation was painted for Burne-Jones's great patron William Graham, and was one of the pictures which made his name when it was shown at the opening exhibition at the Grosvenor Gallery in 1877. It is now in the Fogg Art Museum at Harvard, Massachusetts.
