A remarkable pair of recently discovered "Landpost-Stempel" covers Rural Post Markings The Hamburg Postal Administration included several collecting or receiving Bureaux situated in the outer suberbs of so-called rural areas. These Bureaux carried a stock of current Hamburg stamps but had neither the authority or means to cancel them. On arrival of letters from these outlying Bureaux at the Stadtpost Head Post Office, they were given a stamp or mark indicating their place of origin. This mark, therefore, only the name of the district (in some cases the route) from whence the letter came

(thin type) and showing a fine strike of the very rare boxed "PöSELDORF" h.s. adjacent, with origin, transit and arrival datestamp on reverse; some light age spotting and one of the envelope flaps is torn.
