Lot Essay

Dr Monro lived at 8 Adelphi Terrace between 1794-1820 and it was here at his 'academy' that artists such as Girtin and Turner met. Apart from being a talented amateur Monro was also Principal Physician at Bethlem and in 1811 and 1812 he was called in consultation to George III at Windsor
