Lot Essay

Andrew Thomas, 11th Baron Blaney (1770-1834) married Lady Mabella, eldest daughter of James, 1st Earl of Caledon in 1796 and had issue.
He was an ensign in 1789, promoted Captain 1792, Major in the 89th Regiment, Lieutenant-Colonel 1 March 1798 and Lieutenant-General 12 August 1819. He had a distinguished military career fighting in Flanders, the West Indies, Malta, Egypt, Africa, South America and the Peninsular War
