inscribed and dated on the reverse 'October 1851 Drawing Room at Ockham.' and a later inscription on a label attached to the reverse of the frame reads 'The Drawing room in the/demolished house at/Ockham Park./by J.Lefevre.'; pencil and watercolour with touches of white heightening

Lot Essay

Ockham Park was built in the 1620s for Henry Weston and altered by Hawksmoor after 1724. The house was given an Italianate style circa 1830 and finally altered again by Voysey in 1894-5. The house was destroyed by fire in 1948
