A comprehensive collection of hydrographical charts of the coasts of mainland Italy, Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily, the Lipari and other islands, and parts of the Yugoslavia, including detailed charts of Venice, Genoa, Messina, Ancona, Palermo, Livorno, Gulf of Naples, Bonifacio as well as 6 sheets of coastal profiles and views. The majority are by Captain (later admiral) William Henry Smyth. He carried out his surveys of Sicily and Malta from 1814 to 1816, these sheets being the reissues of 1823, many of the mainland Italian sheets are amended to 1857. (68)
