Lot Essay

By 1961, the Bulova Watch Co. introduced the Accutron wristwatch. Instead of an oscillating hairspring and balance wheel, the Accutron movement was designed with a vibrating tuning fork which was powered by a battery.

The present lot is one of very few examples produced with a platinum case.
