Lot Essay

Production of this model, reference 5004, began in 1995. An example in 18K yellow gold is illustrated in Patek Philippe Wristwatches by Martin Huber & Alan Banbery, 2nd edition, p. 312.

The present lot is particularly rare do to the special black dial. This model in 18K white gold is typically produced with a silvered dial with Arabic numerals. The Certificate of Origin for this lot, however, indicates that the watch originated with the special black dial with white gold baton numerals (Noir Semi-Brillant Index Gris). Very few examples are believed to have been produced with this dial.
