A TEXAS HOPE SADDLE
A 1870s rare brown Texas Hope style saddle, with exposed rawhide tree, completely original. The Hope style saddles were used by Jefferson Davis and Robert E. Lee while serving in the Mexican War. A selection of these saddles were produced in St. Louis and tranported to Texas through the Santa Fe trail. A post cival version, with Mexican style front riging, wooden stirrups, and square border tooled skirts. --seat: 14 in., horn: 6 in. and cantle: 2½ in.
