Lord Ivar Mountbatten is descended from the Russian Imperial Family through his grandmother, Nadezhda Mikhailovna, Countess Torby, 2nd Marchioness of Milford Haven. Her father, Grand Duke Mikhail Mikhailovich, the grandson of Nicholas I through his youngest son, was married morganatically to Sophie, Countess Merenberg, the daughter of Nicholas, Prince of Nassau, and his morganatic wife Natalia Alexandrovna, the daughter of the poet Alexander Pushkin.
