"I AM CHRISTOPHER ROBIN'S DADDY"

Phillips had addressed a question to the author: "Dear Mr. Hoo, Uncle Josscelyn thinks you are Christopher Robin's Daddy, Jack and I Think you are his uncle 'cos daddies are not like you. So I went into the library and climbed up the book-case and took down 'Who's Hoo'. It was very heavy and did not say who. Uncle Joss promised me ten generals [toy soldiers?] if I was right, so please rite and tell me." On the reverse is Phillip's note of explanation (written as an adult): "This is a copy of a letter written to A.A. Milne in child's handwriting -- the accompanying is his answer."

Milne's reply: "I like your name. I am going to call myself Hoo Hoos in future, and write a book all about myself, which you will find in the library next to Who's Who. I am Christopher Robin's Daddy. I am very glad about it, but very sorry about your ten generals, but if uncles are really nicer, then I think you will get them all right after all. Love from Hoo Hoos (sometimes known as A:A: Milne)."
