Spanish Heyde-like Solids
Makers represented - Capell Gonzales (1890-1945), Palomeque Sanquez (1930-1945), La Guerra (J Capell) founded by Baldomero, Fernadez Aira trading as 'Multicolor' and Casanellas - Lots 371 to 381 and Lots 851 to 897. This collection came to the Museum without details about the seller, a Spaniard living in Ceuta, a Spanish enclave in Morocco. At first these large quantities of khaki and grey figures presented a daunting sight, but we soon discovered many interesting vignettes and quickly realised how attractive and realistic the displays could be. In fact, arranging them was one of the most rewarding tasks in the museum. We are very grateful to José Manuel Allendesalazar for identifying some rarities.
