THREE MEROVINGIAN BROOCHES
circa early 6th century a.d.
Including a pair of bronze brooches, both cast with a semi-circular head-plate with an incised lattice-pattern and five projecting knobs, the flat bow and long rectangular foot with linear, ribbed and punched decoration, the back with fittings for attachment of the now-missing pin; and a gilt-silver quatrefoil brooch divided into sixteen cells, a square in the center divided into eight triangles, each semi-circular lobe divided in two, all set with foil-backed garnet inlays, the pin fittings in back missing
