Lot Essay

The smaller bowl signed on the bottom Marie and Julian. The larger bowl sold with a certificate from Marian Rodee of the Maxwell Museum at The University of New Mexico who states, "The shape and style of painting look like early San Ildefonso, say late 1910s or early 1920s. It resembles the early work of the Maritinez family, Maria and Julian particularly (see Peterson book, page 238, number 261)."
