The serpentine ruffle carved crestrail terminating in scrolled ears above a pierced vase shaped splat centering a tassel flanked by shaped armrests terminating in scrolling eagle heads over a trapezoidal slip seat and gadrooned apron, on foliate carved cabriole legs with ball-and-claw feet--38in. high

With its tassel-back, eagle hand grip and gadrooned apron, this arm chair relates to a small group of tassel-backs made in several sets for New York families. For related examples see Morrison H.
