Details
DOMAINE LAROCHE
Laroche is one of the most dynamic merchant-growers in Chablis, with a magnificent, 100 hectare estate of great growths, First Growths and straight Chablis. In exceptional vintages such as 1986 and 1990 a limited quantity of Jeroboams of their greatest wines are bottled.
Jeroboams of Chablis Les Clos 1986 were served in September 2000 for the 150th Anniversary of Domaine Laroche's foundation, being pronounced elegant and strong, with at least 10 years further life ahead of it.
Tasted from a magnum in August 2001, Chablis Les Clos 1990 had classic, pale yellow colour with green reflections. The aroma was still subdued, but opened, complex yet delicate, after 3 - 4 hours, to show notes of quince. This is a rich, magnificent wine, which would continue to improve for a decade or more. AH
