BATMAN, 1966-1968
A complete costume worn by actor Burt Ward as "Robin The Boy Wonder" on the original television series. The show was and is still considered a prime example of Pop Art reflecting the psychedelic and colorful 1960s. The red wool tunic with yellow front lacing and the familiar black and yellow "R" insignia, is constructed with a bright yellow satin cape. A green cotton t-shirt is worn underneath the tunic. Includes two pairs of flesh colored tights, green briefs, black and brass "utility" belt, green cotton and leather gloves, black eye mask and winged green leather boots. Together with an original handwritten letter from Burt Ward on his personal stationery which reads in part "...My costume brings back many wonderful memories. I used it for closeup shots during the third season on Batman. I also used it for two NBC Specials, "Legends of the Superheroes" and "Superhero Roast." Make no mistake, there are no other Robin costumes that I wore anywhere in the world. The other costumes that I used on the Batman television series were so torn and discolored by the end of the last season that they were discarded.". Accompanied by a color photograph of Burt Ward as Robin, signed and inscribed in blue ink ZAP! Burt Ward "Robin"--10 x 8 in.
