mark of Olovianishnikov Firm, Moscow, 1908-1917
Of clipped arch form, the cover with gilt filigree-scroll Greek cross over the doors, opening to reveal an icon of 'Saint Ermogen Patriarch of Moscow', flanked by Archangels Michael and Gabriel, traditionally painted on olive green grounds within deep blue cloisonné enamel scroll borders with green rosettes in the upper border and lower angles, the reverse engraved with the Slavonic prayer 'Strengthened the Dominion of our Tsars and delivered our land from impiety', marked on lower rims and enamel borders
