A FINE PAIR OF SMALL DOUCAI BOWLS
DAOGUANG SIX-CHARACTER SEAL MARKS AND OF THE PERIOD (1821-1850)

Each bowl is decorated in soft enamels and outlined in underglaze-blue around the exterior with four swimming mandarin ducks divided by sprays of iron-red lotus and water reeds, above blue lappet panels encircling the foot, the interior with a similar pair of ducks in a lotus pond within a central medallion

Cf. similar pairs of Daoguang-marked bowls, one from the Simon Kwan Collection, exhibited at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, 1983, Imperial Porcelain of the Late Qing, illustrated in the Catalogue, no. 30; and another pair sold in these Rooms, 18 March 1991, lot 601.
