Lot Essay

Nicholas Philippe Dussault, maître in 1774.

Orphaned at a young age, Dussault left his home town of Pontoise for Paris where he began his apprenticeship. Establishing himself on the rue de Charonne he later moved to the rue Neuve-Saint-Etienne. A small console deserte by Dussault, displaying a similar ormolu border to the drawer is illustrated in P. Kjellberg, Le Mobilier Français du XVIIIeme Siècle, Paris, 1989, p.294.
