A GEORGE IV BIRD'S EYE MAPLE SECRETAIRE/CHIFFONIER
Circa 1825
The mirrored two-tiered superstructure with a scrolling vine-pierced three-quarter rosewood gallery, each tier upon S-scroll uprights, the rectangular top over a panelled secretaire-drawer enclosing a mahogany-veneered interior with tooled black leather writing inset and central arched pigeonhole with baluster-turned colonettes to either side of aperture and mirrored back, three short satinwood-veneered drawers to either side, over a green satin panelled front flanked by laurel-headed volutes, each side with four drawers with locking stiles, on a molded everted breakfront base, lacking backboard to the waist secretaire-drawer section, the locks stamped PATENT twice
