A PAINTED POTTERY TORSO OF A SOLDIER
TANG DYNASTY

The fierce warrior well-modeled with stern expression and head turned slightly to the left, dressed in full armor with lion-mask epaulets, breast plates with flowerhead bosses and a lion-head boss at the waist, his face with furrowed brow, broad nose and curled moustache above grimacing mouth, framed by a close-fitting helmet with flared ear flaps, retaining extensive traces of white, red, black and yellow pigment (some restoration)
