Shown seated on a rockwork base with right paw raised and head turned to the side, the mane, upswept tail and patch of fur on the left haunch with incised hair markings, remains of a tab on the base, gilding rubbed and some cuprite encrustation

This small figure is similar to one found on a Tang dynasty altar group in the Avery Brundage Collection, illustrated by d'Argencé, Chinese, Korean and Japanese Sculpture, Asian Art Museum, San Francisco, 1974, no. 92
