A CARVED WOOD FIGURE OF A SEATED IMMORTAL
MING DYNASTY

Shown seated on a rockwork throne with right hand resting on his knee, the borders of his layered robes joined above the waist by a lozenge-shaped clasp, his face carved with a bifurcated beard falling to either side of his mouth beneath bulging eyes and a furrowed brow to create a stern expression, his hair drawn up and gathered within a petal-carved crown, with a rectangular aperture in the back, traces of red and green pigment (right hand replaced, cracks and losses)
