Lot Essay

It is more usual to find vases of this form and type using a combination of underglaze-red, underglaze-blue and celadon glazes to highlight the molded or carved decoration, rather than being in monochrome. For a celadon-glazed example with decoration of landscapes and chilong, see Frances Klapthor, Chinese Ceramics from the Collection of the Baltimore Museum of Art, Baltimore, 1993, no. 38
