A BRONZE FEMALE FIGURE OF 'LA BAIGNEUSE'
FRENCH, EARLY 19TH CENTURY, AFTER FALCONET
The figure stands beside a tree stump drying herself off with a cloth-24in. (61cm.) high, reddish brown patina with extensive black lacquer
This model is a reduction of the marble of 1757 which Falconet made for Madame du Barry, now in the Louvre. 'La Baigneuse' is known in numerous reductions in marble and bronze as well as the bisque statuettes made by Sevres.
