With later rectangular veined white marble top above a pierced flowerhead and guilloche frieze on acanthus-carved fluted tapering legs headed with rosettes, stencilled four times 57983X--32in. (81cm.) high, 63in. (160cm.) wide, 27½in. (70cm.) deep

The decoration of the offered lot relates to a pair of D-shaped consoles supplied circa 1785 for the bedroom of Louis XVI at Compiègne and illustrated in P. Verlet, French Furniture of the Eighteenth Century, 1991, p. 106, fig. 64.
