This chair is of the same model as a suite delivered by Jacob-Desmalter in 1809 for the Salon de L'Impératrice at Compiègne, illustrated in S. Grandjean, Empire Furniture 1800 to 1825, 1966, p. 100, no. 49A. Other suites of seat furniture of this model by Jacob Desmalter include one supplied to Prince Louis Bonaparte for his apartments in the Tuileries (see F. de Salverte, Les Ebénistes du XVIII Siècle, 1962, p.168, pl. LXXX) and a suite delivered in 1808 for the grand salon de L'Impératrice at the Tuileries.
