1951 MICKEY MANTLE UNIFORM
A 1951 rookie year uniform of Hall of Famer Mickey Mantle. The home New York Yankees pinstripe jersey and pants are in excellent condition, with minor repair on the right knee. The uniform has no evidence of a sleeve patch indicating it was worn in the 1951 World Series during which no fifty year patch was worn. It was during the 1951 World Series that Mantle tripped on a sprinkler and injured his knee which would plague him throughout his entire career. The uniform bears number seven and has M. Mantle 1951 - 2 stitched into the collar. The 1951 - 52 stitching is the same as a 1951 uniform of Joe DiMaggio in the Barry Halper collection. Offered with a letter of authenticity, the uniform is perhaps the finest Mantle pinstripe ever offered at auction.
