This bench is based on a design by Morgan and Saunders illustrated in Ackermann's Repository of Arts, January 1809, p.54, pl.3 (reproduced in P. Agius, ed., Ackermann's Regency Furniture and Interiors, 1984, p.39, pl.I). An identical pair of Regency period benches was sold Christie's London, 6 July 1989, lot 24.
