In the Charles I style, each on fluted quatrefoil base with molded rim and chased with scrolls and pinecone with stiff leaves rising to a knopped and openwork scroll stem with quatrefoil shell flange, the quatrefoil socket with shaped removable nozzle, each engraved with a monogram, marked under bases and nozzles, stamped CRICHTON BROS. Lot Essay

These candlesticks are copies of Charles II examples in the Victoria and Albert Museum. Another set of four, also by Crichton Brothers, are displayed at Waddesdon Manor, Buckinghamshire, while a silver-gilt set is in a private Argentine collection and illustrated in Thieleman et al., Mesas de Buenos Aires, 1994, p. 156.
