The plates, numbered variously up to 19, depict scenes, dated 1566-70, from the start of the Eighty Years War, with German text below, they include views of Antwerp, the siege of Valenciennes, the arrival of the Duke of Alba, and the arrest and execution of Counts of Egmondt and Hoorn.
